Kwahu Afram Plains North District is one of the thirty-three administrative MMDAs in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It was formerly part of the then-larger Kwahu North District in 1988 (later known as Afram Plains District), until the western part of the district was split off to create Kwahu Afram Plains South District on 19 June 2012; making the remaining part renamed as Kwahu Afram Plains North District. The district has about 95 communities with Donkorkrom as its district capital town. Three quarters of the communities are located on the Island within the water bodies.
VISION: The improvement of income, enhancement of the quality of human resource and ensuring effective decision- making in an environment of mass participation in governance development.
MISSION: To provide an enabling environment to ensure a higher standard of living for the people of the Kwahu Afram Plains North District through the formulation and implementation of sound policies and programs in supporting human, agricultural and infrastructural development by highly qualified and motivated staff.
